A shipment can reach the destination city and still be difficult to deliver to the project. Heavy crates, long panels and large slabs require a practical plan for the final movement. Discuss access with the carrier and installer before choosing packing dimensions or booking delivery.
Survey the route
Record vehicle access, loading restrictions, gradients, turning space, door openings, lifts and any protected surfaces. Identify whether permits, appointments or site escorts are needed. Share relevant details with the service provider through the agreed communication channel.
Define unloading responsibilities
Ask who supplies lifting equipment and trained operators, and where the transport service ends. Confirm the receiving team's availability and the safe temporary storage location. A delivery quote should not be assumed to include installation or movement to an upper floor.
Delivery readiness checklist
- Confirmed package dimensions and gross weights.
- Suitable equipment and competent personnel arranged.
- Clear route to the agreed receiving point.
- Contact person and contingency for delays.
If the route is unsuitable, consider changes to module sizes, packing or delivery method before fabrication. Decisions made at the design stage are often easier than attempting to modify a finished custom product at arrival. Keep the final access plan linked to the actual shipping pieces, not only the installed dimensions.
AN Sourcing buying notes. These are practical procurement checklists; specifications, service scope and destination requirements should be confirmed for the actual order.
